    Se avete un iPhone, un iPod Touch o un iPad, molto probabilmente avrete già sentito parlare di Angry Birds. Il titolo, sviluppato dai finlandesi di Rovio Mobile, è il perfetto esempio di come dovrebbe essere un gioco per cellulare: curato, divertente, immediato, ma al contempo profondo. E non è un caso se il titolo in questione è stato un vero e proprio successo commerciale nonostante il costo contenuto (0.79 €), con una versione per console HD appena pubblicata e voci che parlano addirittura di un film. Andiamo ora a dare uno sguardo più approfondito ad Angry Birds e al perchè del suo successo.

    Mai infastidire dei simpatici uccellini
    Lo scopo (e la storia) del gioco sono molto semplici: un gruppo di famelici maiali, guidati dal loro monarca, stanchi di pasti a base d'erba, decidono di razziare i nidi di alcuni uccelli per rubarne le uova e variare così la loro dieta, non sospettando che la vendetta dei pennuti sarà feroce ed inesorabile. E' da qui che entriamo in scena noi: attraverso una gigantesca fionda infatti dovremo letteralmente sparare i vendicativi pennuti contro le strutture e le costruzioni che i maiali usano per difendersi, fino a che non saremo riusciti a radere al suolo le loro difese e colpirli (o far collassare loro le strutture addosso). Come detto il gameplay è semplice: trascinando con il dito la fionda potremo scegliere forza e traiettoria del colpo, con quest'ultima che lascerà una flebile scia, in modo da avere un riferimento per il tiro successivo. Andando avanti nei diversi stage le difese dei nemici diventeranno sempre più resistenti e aggiungeranno nuovi elementi e materiali, come lastroni di pietra o massi, vetrate, travi di ferro o casse esplosive. In parallelo anche il nostro arsenale di pennuti diventerà più vario: oltre al rosso uccellino di base si aggiungeranno infatti anche volatili in grado di dividersi in tre in volo, di accelerare in aria per colpire più forte, di sganciare bombe e addirittura kamikaze esplosivi. Ogni uccello avrà quindi le sue specifiche caratteristiche e sarà in grado di essere efficace o meno contro un determinato materiale. In uno degli ultimi update è stata anche introdotta una modalità in cui il giocatore potrà utilizzare un solo "proiettile", costituito da un furente (e gigantesco) volatile, con il quale dovremo distruggere i "cantieri" dei maiali (che saranno protetti dai classici elmetti da lavoratori) con un solo preciso colpo.
    Commento Finale
    Angry Birds dovrebbe essere installato da tutti i possessori di iPhone, senza riserve. Rappresenta il perfetto archetipo del tipo di gioco da godere in assoluta e piena mobilità: un impianto di gioco semplice, ma ben realizzato, stage impegnativi ma mai frustranti dalla rapida fruizione e un gran numero di livelli costantemente aumentato dal massiccio supporto degli sviluppatori. Il tutto ad un prezzo estremamente aggressivo, che ha contribuito non poco all'incredibile successo che i nostri Angry Birds stanno riscuotendo.

The furious fowl have now made their way to the PlayStation 3 and PSP by way of the PlayStation Mini Angry Birds, and the game is largely untouched when compared to its touch-screen counterpart, but it does have a few performance issues that tarnish the port. Through around 200 levels, you'll use the analog nub to pull back on your slingshot and hURL the 2D birds across the screen. This is my preferred way to play. The nub offered me tiny variances in control that I don't feel like I get with my fat finger on a screen, and it also means that I can see the whole screen as the action goes down and not have a digit in the way.

    Seeing the screen is important in Angry Birds. As the bundles of feathers go flying, they track their arc through the air. This is useful when planning your next shot and trying to take out that next wooden support. When I first started, I only had red birds to launch through the air. These guys just fly over and knock down stuff. Eventually, you unlock different birds with special skills. Tap X while the blue bird is in flight and it splits into three -- each with its own trajectory. Tap X while the yellow bird is in motion and the little guy shoots out like a torpedo to smash through the structure. Mastering these techniques is crucial to completing Angry Birds. Each level has a three-star ranking system. If you're looking to get those perfect stats, you'll need to try and try again to take down the pigs with as few birds as possible. Doing well also unlocks Golden Eggs, hidden bonuses for rocking the game's socks. All of that is fun. Trying to figure out how to get a pig encased in concrete or cause a glass block to fall on the swine are good times. As the levels are not that involved, Angry Birds is the perfect game for me to fool with while watching TV, and seeing as how the levels aren't that long, I was never pissed when I ran out of birds and had just one piggy left on the screen; I knew I could jump back in, rework my strategy, and get the victory.
    Closing Comments
    There's no denying that Angry Birds is fun, but it could use polish -- such as sharper visuals, a better price and smoother action. It's one of those games I could play for a few hours on a plane or obsess over on my couch.
