A PlayStation version was also announced, but never released. In the game, the Moon has been colonized, and due to political conflicts, the Lunar colonies are rebelling against the United Nations. The player is on the side of the Lunar alliance, fighting against United Nation forces. The game later takes a twist, when an alien species is discovered.

Rebel Moon Rising is a sequel to Rebel Moon. It is a first person shooter where the player takes on the role of a rebel colonist on the moon fighting against the oppressive UN forces from Earth. In Rebel Moon, the player is thrown into a conflict between the self-proclaimed Lunar Free State (also known as Free State Selena) and the United Nations of Earth who seek to quell the rebellion and bring back the colonies on the Moon under control. Declaring the colonists "terrorists", the UN deploy their ATFOR (Anti-Terrorism Force) units which comprise the main enemies of the game.
